Chris and I flew to Lake Tahoe, CA for our good friends, Lauren and Grant’s wedding. I’ve known her since high school, but have a handful of good memories hanging with them both circa 2012 even. They’ve been dating quite a while now!
They couldn’t have picked a more gorgeous location for their wedding, Truckee, CA – a small mountain town by Lake Tahoe. Home to Martis Camp – a luxurious resort full of cabins large enough to sleep about 30 people, and full of lush forests sweeping the mountain horizon. I’ll never forget that fresh scent of pine & cold air 24/7! I love it, and we sure don’t get that in Florida.
The first couple days, we enjoyed the outdoors: hiking the mountain trails, relaxing by the resort’s clubhouse, getting poolside massages and doing yoga with new mats given to us as bridesmaid gifts from Lauren. Additionally, my birthday fell during this trip and I couldn’t have pictured it any better than with best friends & Chris. The wedding day was beautiful! While Chris was a guest, I stood alongside Lauren as a bridesmaid, yet we still managed to capture enough footage of the wedding to offer Lauren & Grant a wedding video (below).
We brought our cameras hiking, and Chris flew his drone – wow did he capture some great views of Lake Tahoe! We knew that the weather over the next few days was going to deteriorate, and that this might have been the only day he could fly. With whipping winds, it was nerve wreaking. Little did we know that was nothing compared to the strong weather in coming days from leftovers of a Typhoon off the coast…
Rehearsal Dinner Day: It was my BIRTHDAY!! As remnants of the typhoon brushed along the Pacific Northwest, we couldn’t help but wonder if the horse riding reservations were still in place, or if they fell through. Gosh, It was
so
cold! 30 degrees is okay, but the windchill was insane … the horses could care less (as pictured below).
On the wedding day, we pampered and prepped for most of the morning. The locker room was GORGEOUS. And thats exactly where I chose to hangout while helping Danielle rewrite her speech. She insisted I had better handwriting than her – ha! The view from the lounge was breathtaking as it had a sweeping & vast view of Martis Camp and it’s lush forest tree tops.
And this was essentially our first wedding video Chris & I made for someone – yay! Although we were there as a guest & a bridesmaid, their excitement and gratitude for this edit gave us inspiration to film many more couples.
